One week from today, Wednesday February 10, is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the liturgical season of Lent. St. Paul's marks the start of this season with a wide variety of traditions and services, which are described below. 

Please join us as we prepare for and enter into the Lenten Season.

THIS SUNDAY, February 7
: 
Collecting Last Year's PalmsBring your old palms to church this Sunday! -- the ashes imposed on our foreheads on Ash Wednesday are made by burning the prior year's palms from Palm Sunday.  Place your palms in the baskets near the Sanctuary doors to be burned for this year's Ash Wednesday ashes.Creating the Butterfly Mobile (9:00am - 10:00am):  All are welcome to join the children through grade 5 in making the butterflies and cocoons for this year's Butterfly Mobile.  We'll gather during the 9:00 hour in the large classroom just to the right of the stairs to the lower level.  Come help create this important visual symbol of transformation that hangs in the Sanctuary through Lent."Shrove Sunday" Pancake Breakfast and Talent Show (11:30 am on):  Eat pancakes made by the Middle Schoolers!  Dazzle us with your talent!  We'll gather in the Great Hall after the 10:00 service for fellowship and homegrown entertainment!  Email Hazel at This email address is being protected from spambots. ASH WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE, February 10 
Distribution of Ashes 
7:00am - 9:00am and 12:00pm - 1:00pm at the Aspinwall Street Entrance
Come by on your way to work or school, or during your lunch break, receive ashes and hear the powerful reminder that we "are dust, and to dust we shall return."
Ash Wednesday Service 
7:00pm in the Sanctuary
Join us for the Ash Wednesday service with Distribution of Ashes and Holy Communion. 
 
LENTEN INVITATION SERVICE, Sunday February 14, 5:00pm 
Join us for an evening service of readings, music, and prayers designed to invite us into the holy season of Lent.  As an integral part of the service, the St. Paul's Choir will sing the Durufle Requiem, accompanied by organ and a wind and string chamber ensemble.Please join us to mark the beginning of Lent.
