Adult Education for Epiphany: Mission & Ministry at St. Paul's

This Sunday's Adult Education session will be a discussion about Ministry Outside the Parish, one of our very important missions at St Paul's.  Members of the Committee will discuss the work of the committee which allocates annually 10% of St. Paul's budget to a diverse group of non profit organizations.  The committee awards grants on behalf of St Paul's community, so come hear how the committee works and about some of the organizations we have recently given money to.  We have fun deciding how to allocate the money, but, of course, take our fiscal responsibilities very seriously. We always are happy to welcome new members, so come hear about our work!  We will meet at 9:00 in the Lichtenberger Room.  Coffee will be served.

Next week, February 7, join us for a presentation on the Brookline Emergency Food Pantry.

Honduras Mission

The Honduras Mission group will have our first meeting this Sunday at 11:15a.m.  Please join us if you are interested in finding out more about our mission work or thinking about joining the team (travel and home). We will discuss potential projects for this year and share stories of our past mission work.

Worship Committee

There will be a meeting of the Worship Committee this morning at 11:30 a.m. in Jeff's office.  We will be talking about the season of Lent and making preparations for services, worship materials and special programs.  Please join us if you are interested in joining the worship committee!

Parish Census 2010

We are currently preparing a new Parish Directory. To ensure our information is accurate and as complete as possible, please fill out a blue Household Census Form found in the back of the church or in the office.  They can be returned in the collection plate, by mail, or directly to the Parish Office.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Burning of the Palms

February 16 at 6:00 p.m.

Join us on Tuesday, February 16 at 6pm for our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.  If you're not heading to the Big Easy for Mardi Gras, come feast on pancakes, don mardi gras apparrel and enjoy fellowship and revelry before Lent begins!  Ever wonder where the ashes for Ash Wednesday come from?  We'll gather  together and burn our palms from Palm Sunday last year.  These burned palms, mixed with spiced oil, become the ashes for our Ash Wednesday service (see announcement about Ash Wednesday for more details.) The Pancake Supper is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12, or $10 per family.  All proceeds will benefit the Honduras Mission Trip.

Lent Starts February 17 with Ash Wednesday

There will be an Ash Wednesday Liturgy at 7:30 p.m. with Imposition of Ashes and Holy Eucharist.  Please join us as we start this reflective season together.

Steering Committee for Children and Youth

We are forming a group to discuss our ministry to and with children and youth at St. Paul’s.  Our first meeting will be Sunday, February 28 at 11:30 in Jeff’s office.  If you are interested in participating in the group, please contact Jeff ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Talk about St. Paul's @ YourBrookline.org

YourBrookline.org is a social networking site that's a great place to learn what's going on and connect with your neighbors in Brookline -- and a great place to talk up St. Paul's.

YourBrookline.org is a free program of the Brookline Community Foundation and there is already a "group" established for St. Paul's.  Add events to the community calendar, write a post about your experiences with MOP, the Food Pantry, music, church school, or other things you find of value at St. Paul's.  This web platform could also be a great tool for other nonprofit organizations you're involved with -- check it out at YourBrookline.org.  Many thanks to Molly Lanzarotta for setting up St. Paul's presence at the site!
