lucy sewallLucy began her career in education, as a history teacher and later headmistress at Brimmer and May School in Chestnut Hill. Then, for over 20 years, she served consulting, legal, technology, and investment companies as a director of human resources and director of administration. In 2001, she left the corporate life to become a church administrator, initially at First Parish in Weston and then at King’s Chapel in Boston. She left King’s Chapel to join Jeff Mello when he began his ministry at St. Paul’s. Jeff was foresighted enough to let Lucy start a few days before him, in order to clean up all the renovation mess in the parish building prior to his arrival.

Lucy has served as the president of the board of the Massachusetts Bible Society, and as chair of the Boston region for the Channel 2 and Shady Hill auctions. She has also served on several human resources boards and been the secretary of the Fragment Society. Lucy and her husband Stu have three daughters; unfortunately, they are scattered around the world, with the closest one (and closest grandchild) in Colorado. She is a serious hobbyist cook who has been known to make five-course dinners for fun. She also enjoys reading, visiting art galleries and museums, and—though hardly an outdoorswoman—she is found almost every summer weekend in a kayak on some lake or river. Many people do not know that she also has a black belt in knitting.
