Rector’s Annual Address

January 29, 2017

Good morning, church! And welcome to the one hundred and sixty eighth annual meeting of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brookline.

This is my eighth Annual Address as your rector. Each address has been different, as each year has been, but one thing has remained steadfast;  My love for you. My love for you as a community, and my love for each and everyone of you in this community.   Though, from time to time we may disagree, disappoint one another or fall short of our expectations of each other, my love for you and for this community has never been deeper, or stronger. I love being your Rector, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

On January 29, 2017, on the Sunday after the feast day of St. Paul, we gathered to discuss the business of the parish and share our hopes for our next year together. The first part of the Annual Meeting took place within the context of the 10:00 service. At that time, the congregation approved new Vestry members, delegates, etc. It also received the 2015 Budget approved by the Vestry.  We then adjourned to the Great Hall for a wonderful potluck luncheon and fellowship with the conclusion of the annual meeting.

The Annual Report (in PDF) for activities in 2016, written by committee chairs, is attached. The report contains the list of candidates proposed and approved for various Parish offices. It also includes the final income and expenditures for 2016 as well as the Budget for 2017 as approved by the Vestry.
