Godspell Worship this Sunday!

This Sunday we will be joined by the cast of the Boston Conservatory's production of Godspell at our 10:00 am service. The music for the service will be from Godspell, and the lessons for the day will be acted-out versions of stories from scripture as they are told in the show.

Join us to see scripture come alive in word and song, featuring well-known songs such as "Day by Day," "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "We Beseech Thee," "You are the Light of the World" and "All Good Gifts." Singing along will be highly encouraged!
Though it first appeared on Broadway in 1971, the show's creation started several years prior as a student production at Carnegie Mellon. Did you know that six of the songs from Godspell started as hymns in the Episcopal Hymnal?  (5 are still in the hymnal  - can you name them all?) This will be a unique and joyous experience for all of us, and a great service to which to bring children, family and friends who love the music of Godspell. For those desiring a more contemplative Sunday morning worship experience, our 8:00 am service will meet in the chapel.
Adult Education this Sunday
Please join us for an Adult Education Forum at 9:00 am in the Lichtenberger Room to discuss the history of Godspell and its sources.
Scripture Group
Our next scripture group will be Tuesday, April 14. As usual we will meet from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Lichtenberger room. We'll discuss the readings for the Third Sunday of Easter:
Acts 3:12-19; Psalm 4; 1 John 3:1-7; Luke 24:36b-48. The readings can be found by clicking here.
Sabbatical Brochure
We have printed a sabbatical brochure that answers "Frequently Asked Questions" about Rev. Jeff's sabbatical, such as:
  • What is Sabbatical?
  • How long will Jeff be gone?
  • What will Jeff be doing on his sabbatical?
  • Who will cover Jeff's responsibilities during his absence?
  • What will we do while Jeff is gone?
Please pick up a copy on Sunday morning at the ushers table in the Sanctuary or on the table outside the Lichtenberger Room. On Sunday, May 3, we will have a "send-off" for Jeff and his family. We will bless them on their way and celebrate the beginning of this time. If you have sabbatical-related questions, please contact any member of the Sabbatical Planning Team: Melissa Dulla, Julie House, Maryann Kurkjian, Angie Marks, Steve Morrissey, Chris Smith, and Madeleine Taylor.
EfM Groups are Forming for Next Year
EfM (Education for Ministry) is a course of study dedicated to strengthening the laity in the richness of the Church and grounding them in knowledge of their faith. Groups meet in weekly seminars throughout the USA and internationally during the academic year under the guidance of trained mentors for two to three hour, morning or evening sessions. Together, members participate in worship, study of scripture, church history, and theology; as well as engage in theological reflection and discussion. Several St. Paul's folks have been participants in the program including our own Assistant Rector, Megan Holding, and would be very happy to talk about their experiences. Groups across our Diocese are currently registering new members for Fall 2015. If you are curious and want to explore whether EfM might be right for you, the Lexington EfM group is seeking new members and will be holding an open session for visitors at Church of Our Redeemer, Lexington, MA on May 19. All are welcome with RSVP. Please contact Maryann Kurkjian This email address is being protected from spambots.
