A Note of Thanks from Megan

Dear St. Paul's,

Thank you!  Thank you!

Thank you for the outpouring of love and support for me and my family during the time of my ordination to the priesthood. Your prayers, kind words, well wishes, and presence in person and in spirit surrounded us over my ordination weekend.  What a great gift to be held in such love and support.

Thank you also for the hospitality you showed my family and friends on Sunday, January 11. They were pleased to have a glimpse into this community we love; and they were touched by the warm welcome you extended them.

It was an honor, and the source of great joy, to celebrate my first Eucharist in this community that has been so integral to my formation. Your gift of the stained glass image of the center of the chapel cross already hangs in our kitchen window. It is lovely to have a glimpse of St. Paul's at the start of each day, and to remember all that this parish has given us as a family. I look forward to our continued journey together.

With great gratitude, Megan+

Thank you, Thank you!
Thank you for putting your "faith into action" during the Mission Sunday clothing and toy drive on January 11. St Paul's collected numerous bags of children and adult clothing as well as four boxes of toys. All adult items have been donated to St Francis House in downtown Boston. All children's items have been donated to Cradles to Crayons in Brighton. Thank you to everyone who donated and sorted clothing for our local neighbors in need.
Annual Meeting this coming Sunday
Please note that there is no 8:00 am service this coming Sunday as we will gather for Annual Meeting after the 10:00 am service to discuss the business of the parish and share our hopes for our next year together. Please check your email as a copy of the 2014 Annual Report will be sent to you electronically this week. Please bring a copy with you on Sunday; a limited number of extra copies will be available for those that need them.Children are welcome to attend the Annual Meeting; childcare and a movie will also be available in the Lichtenberger Room.
How do I join the Church?
Have you ever wondered what it meant to "join the church?"  What do membership and belonging mean?  Does any of it matter? Join us for Adult Education on Sundays, January 25 and February 1 to explore questions related to membership in the church. How does someone join St. Paul's?  Become an Episcopalian?  Become a Christian?  We'll talk about how the church understands these questions and invite you to explore what membership means for you. We meet at 9:00 am in the Lichtenberger Room. Coffee provided!
Parish trip to the Movies to see "Selma"
Join us on Sunday, February 8, for a trip to the movies. We will be going to see the 3:15 pm showing of "Selma" at the Showcase Cinema at Legacy Place in Dedham. We'll make plans to meet at the movie theater. We'll have dinner after the movie nearby with those who are interested in continuing the conversation. Please save the date. More information will be made available as it is known.  "Selma" is rated PG-13 and runs 2 hours and 7 minutes long.
Subdeacon Training
Have you ever wanted to be an acolyte, or miss being an acolyte, but thought the time had passed?  Does the thought of assisting in the leading of worship interest you?  If you would like to consider the possibility of having a role in worship on Sunday mornings, please contact Jeff or Megan to be included in a group of people who will gather to consider the ministry of Subdeacon.  Even if you're just curious as to what a Subdeacon might do, we'd love to have you as part of the conversation.  The group will gather in late February.
Toilet Paper Tubes Needed
Please bring in your empty toilet paper tubes so that we can make Lenten cocoons together on Sunday, February 15! (Lenten cocoons -- and the subsequent releasing of Easter "butterflies" -- are part of a wonderful community observance of Lent at St. Paul's.) Tubes may be delivered to collection baskets in the church school or the Great Hall.
News about the Solar Panels
The company who installed the solar panels wrote us with this news:
"I just want to provide you with an update that after almost three years since your system was turned on, it looks like your system is still performing incredibly well.
Your production tracking system reports 11,596 kWh of solar electricity production for 2014  - about 105% of what our forecasts had predicted for your annual performance. And that is with one of the snowiest winters we've seen in a long time! Your decision to go solar is looking doubly smart with NSTAR's recent electricity rate increases. With NSTAR's rate now up to $0.235 / kWh you are currently saving about $2,800 a year on your energy bills. And you have lowered your CO2 emissions by 30,000 pounds."
2015 Pledge Envelopes
Our 2015 pledge envelopes have arrived. If you ordered them, you may pick them up in the back of the church on Sunday mornings.
