Kind Acts: The $5 Project

I used my $5 to buy sunflower butter for sandwiches on the B-SAFE field trip. This gives vegetarians a non-turkey option while also keeping those with nut

 allergies safe!

                           ~ Adelaide Oneal Xie

On June 10, twenty volunteers received an envelope containing a $5 bill. The volunteers were instructed to use the $5 to do something kind: help someone in need, brighten someone's day, etc. Volunteers were then asked to share their story. We invite others to join us in the $5 Project. Send us your stories (This email address is being protected from spambots. Summer Hymn Sing

During our summer Sunday services through Labor Day weekend, we have an ongoing "hymn-sing" where we sing hymns selected by members of the congregation. If you have a favorite hymn or two (or more), please let us know by submitting them in the hymn box located at the rear door of the church on the ushers table. There are slips of paper there for you to write your selections on.

We can't promise that all suggested hymns make it into a service, but we will do our best to include all of your suggestions.

Mary Magdalene and the Gospel of John Saturday, August 4 @ 2 pm

Parishioner Libbie Schrader will soon be heading to North Carolina to continue her doctoral work in New Testament, but before she does, she will be giving a presentation about the focus of her research: the figure of Mary Magdalene in the Gospel of John. Libbie's investigation of hundreds of early manuscripts of the gospel has led her to the conclusion that some references to Mary Magdalene in John have been edited out, reducing Mary's overall impact on the gospel narrative. Join us on Saturday, August 4 at 2:00 pm in the Lichtenberger Room for Libbie's presentation and discussion! A recent article published in The Daily Beast highlights Libbie's work; to read it, please click here.

Prison Ministry: First Meeting August 12

On August 12, in the Lichtenberger Room after the 10:00 am service, we'll have our first meeting of the prison ministry group. For this meeting, we're planning to have a general discussion about our goals as a group, as well as to talk about some of the many ways in which St. Paul's might get involved in prison ministry. All are welcome!

There will be additional announcements as we get closer to the date. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Leahanne at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Hope to see you there on the 12th!
