Sights and Sounds of a Reimagined Advent - What About the Advent Wreath?
What would a reimagined Advent season look, sound, and feel like? If Advent is seven weeks long, what will the Advent wreath look like? What will we see, what will we sing, and how will our prayers reflect this extended and enriched liturgical season?

Ministry Outside the Parish (M.O.P.) will be holding a Proposal Forum this coming Sunday after the 10:00am service. We will be listening to presentations on organizations that have applied for grants. We look forward to seeing you there. If you have any questions please refer to our website or speak to Matshai Motimele or Tim Hintz.

Candlelight Carols: Come sing. Come listen. Come open yourself to this moment of hope as we near the wonder of Christmas. Surrounded by candlelight; let the music, readings, and prayers lift your spirit and calm your soul.

December 2017 - February 2018

December 24        Why Incarnation? Learning from the Early Church  On this last Sunday of Advent - which is also the Eve of the Feast of the Incarnation! - what does it mean to us that God has come to us as a human being? What gift are we being offered, for ourselves and for the world? We will reflect on and pray with some writings from Christians from the first few centuries, as we prepare to welcome the Christ child into our midst.

December 31        Stump the Associate Rector  This is your chance to ask questions - how many angels can dance on the head of a pin? Can God create something so heavy that not even God can lift it? What have you always wanted to know about Church but were afraid to ask?

January 7        Nurturing Young Disciples: Campus Ministry in our Time  What is it like being a young Christian in this increasingly secular age, and how can we as Church more faithfully serve and support students and others in Gen X, Gen Y, and beyond? Rev. Megan Holding will share her experience as Episcopal chaplain at Northeastern University.

January 14        We Have a Dream: Continuing the Vision of Martin Luther King, Jr Opportunities for all ages for learning, reflection, and action around issues of racial diversity and justice. Three spaces - the chapel, the Lichtenberger Room, and the Great Hall - will be set up for various activities preparing us to commemorate the Martin Luther King holiday and create a commonwealth of blessing and peace.

January 21        Baptism, Confirmation, and Reception: Rites of Initiation, Part 1  What does it mean to be baptized into the Body of Christ? Why does it matter? How does the Anglican/Episcopal tradition understand the sacrament of baptism, and how does baptism serve as the foundation for the priesthood of all believers?

January 28        Baptism, Confirmation, and Reception: Rites of Initiation, Part 2 What does it mean to be confirmed by a bishop, or received into the Episcopal Church? If baptism is full initiation into the Body of Christ, do I need to be confirmed or received? What's the difference between confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation of baptismal vows?

2018 Fall Pledge Appeal Update

Many thanks to the 88 households who have already made their pledge for the ministry and life of St. Paul's in 2018!  We are on track to reach our stretch goal of a 20% increase over last year.  Our other goal is for as close to 100% participation as possible, so no matter what your pledge, please know it is needed and very much appreciated.  Please return your pledge as soon as possible either by mailing it to the office or putting it in the offering plate on a Sunday.

Green the Church for Christmas: Saturday, December 16

Come join us on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 9:00 am to green the Church for Christmas. We will be making the giant wreath for over the altar and window boxes. Bring along your creativity, and a pair of pruning shears. We'll supply the greens and egg nog.

Thanks again for shopping! I'm writing to remind you that gifts are due this weekend.

Please purchase the items and bring them UNWRAPPED to St. Paul's Office by Sunday, December 17. Please place ALL of your gifts in a LARGE HOLIDAY GIFT BAG and label it with your child's letter Code and age. This will guarantee that all of your items stay together and will make it to the correct child.

Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).  If you cannot find a specific item and/or do not know what it is - I am happy to help you figure it out.
